![]() | West Middlesex Scale Model Club About the Club History, Location & Contact Information |
West Middlesex Scale Model Club has been in existence around the Heathrow area for about 30 years, being known as the Heathrow Scale Model Club when I started attending. From there, the club became the IPMS West Middlesex branch and we attended the annual IPMS National shows. The club's greatest triumph was to win the best Branch Display with a title of ‘Best of British’. This was when the event was held at Castle Donington.
After some years, Club members became disillusioned with the set-up of the IPMS and the direction in which it was going, leading to a Club decision to cease being an IPMS branch. Coincidentally, the club started to lose its way and was very close to folding totally. During this time, it was the enthusiasm of Don Sharpe that kept the club running. Sadly, Don died about 5 years ago and in his honour we hold our annual competition every January and the trophy that's awarded is named after Don.
Currently the Club is buoyant and financially stable, a situation not enjoyed for a number of years. The future looks good for the club and we still try to attend as many model shows as we can through the year. This is a great way for members to display their models to a public that admires every member's work.
Meetings are on the last Tuesday of every month at the Feltham National Railway Social club which is just off Harlington Road East. Our address is: West Middlesex Scale Model Club, National Railwayman's Club, 1 Harlington Road East, Feltham, Middlesex TW13 5BN
